CELPIP Speaking Task 3 Template: Describing a Scene

Objetivo

Describa lo que ocurre en una imagen identificando personas, acciones, objetos y lugares en 60 segundos. Dispone de 30 segundos para estudiar la imagen. En esta tarea se evalúa su capacidad de usar Present Continuous y lenguaje espacial con fluidez (fluency).

Prompt: Describe what you see in this picture of a farmers’ market.

Paso 1: Apertura. Identificar la escena general

Objetivo: Ofrezca un resumen de la imagen en una sola oración. Esto establece el contexto y debería ocupar unos 5–10 segundos.

Refuerzo gramatical: Present Continuous para acciones en curso

Fórmula: Subject + is/are + Verb-ing

Este es el tiempo verbal central de la Task 3. Cada acción que describa debería usar Present Continuous, ya que usted está describiendo lo que sucede en este momento en la imagen.

Ejemplos:

• A young woman is selecting tomatoes at a market stall.
• An elderly vendor is displaying fresh bread behind his counter.
• Two children are running between the stalls and laughing.

• Panorama general: This picture shows [a scene/setting with people doing something].
• Atmósfera (opcional): It looks like [a busy/relaxed/festive] [time/place/event].

Ejemplo: This picture shows a busy outdoor farmers’ market on a sunny day. It looks like a vibrant weekend morning with lots of people shopping and socializing.

Paso 2: Descripción principal. Escanear y describir

Objetivo: Describa de manera sistemática los elementos clave de la imagen, recorriéndola de forma organizada. Esta es la parte central de su respuesta, unos 40–45 segundos.

Refuerzo gramatical: preposiciones espaciales para indicar ubicación

Use preposiciones espaciales para indicar al oyente dónde se encuentran las cosas en la imagen. Esto demuestra variedad de vocabulario y ayuda a organizar su descripción.

Refuerzo gramatical: There is / There are para indicar existencia

Use There is/are para introducir elementos nuevos en la escena:

Paso 3: Cierre. Añadir el ambiente o la impresión general

Objetivo: Cierre con una breve observación final sobre el ambiente, la atmósfera o un detalle interesante. Unos 5–10 segundos.

Refuerzo gramatical: acumulación de adjetivos para descripciones vívidas

Use dos o tres adjetivos antes de un sustantivo para crear descripciones ricas. Siga el orden estándar de los adjetivos en inglés: Opinión → Tamaño → Edad → Forma → Color → Origen → Material → Propósito.

Ejemplos:

• It’s a bright, sunny weekend morning at the market.
• The stalls create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
• Everyone seems to be enjoying a lively, festive day outdoors.
