Prompt: Look at the picture (same as Task 3) of a farmers’ market. Predict what will happen next.

Étape 1 : ouverture. Récapituler brièvement et introduire les prédictions
Objectif : Faites brièvement référence à la scène décrite dans la Task 3, puis indiquez que vous allez maintenant formuler des prédictions. Environ dix à quinze secondes.
Astuce grammaticale : Present Continuous vs Present Simple pour référencer la scène
| Temps | Quand utiliser | Exemple |
|---|---|---|
| Present Continuous | Actions en cours dans l’image | The woman is selecting tomatoes from a wooden crate. |
| Present Simple | Faits ou états | The stalls look colourful and well-stocked. |
| Present Perfect | Relier une action passée à l’état actuel | The crowd has started to grow as the morning goes on. |
Le modèle
- Référence à la scène : Looking at this picture, I can see [brief recap of the key situation].
- Transition vers les prédictions : Based on what’s happening, I think several things will happen next.

Exemple : Looking at this picture, I can see a busy farmers’ market with a woman selecting tomatoes, an elderly man selling bread, and children running around. It looks like a popular weekend morning market. Based on what I see, I think several things will happen next.
Étape 2 : prédictions principales. Ce qui va se passer ensuite
Objectif : Formulez trois prédictions précises sur ce qui va se passer, en variant les formes du futur. C’est la partie principale : environ 35 à 40 secondes.
Astuce grammaticale : la hiérarchie des formes du futur
Montrez l’étendue de votre grammaire en utilisant une structure différente pour chaque prédiction :
| Forme | Structure | Niveau de certitude | Exemple |
|---|---|---|---|
| will + base verb | Subject + will + verb | Certitude élevée | The woman will buy a bag of fresh tomatoes. |
| be going to + base verb | Subject + am/is/are going to + verb | Planifié / intentionnel | The vendor is going to restock his bread shortly. |
| be likely to + base verb | Subject + is/are likely to + verb | Probable | The children are likely to ask their parents for a snack. |
| might / may + base verb | Subject + might/may + verb | Possible | The musician might play another song before moving on. |
| be about to + base verb | Subject + is/are about to + verb | Imminent | A new customer is about to approach the bread stall. |
| will probably + base verb | Subject + will probably + verb | Probable | The market will probably stay busy until the afternoon. |
Astuce grammaticale : First Conditional pour des prédictions de cause à effet
Formule : If + Present Simple, … will / might / should + Base Verb
Utilisez cette structure pour expliquer pourquoi vous pensez que quelque chose va se produire :
Exemples :
- If the weather stays warm, more shoppers will arrive later in the morning.
- If the children keep running around, they might knock over a display.
- If the vendors sell out quickly, they will probably pack up early.
Le modèle
- Prédiction 1 (certaine) : I believe that [person] will [action]. [Reason/evidence from the picture].
- Prédiction 2 (probable) : [Person] is probably going to [action] because [reason].
- Prédiction 3 (possible) : [Person] might also [action]. If [condition], [result].

Exemple : First of all, I believe the woman in the straw hat will buy a large bag of fresh tomatoes. Since she is carefully selecting them from the crate, she is probably going to choose the ripest ones and fill her canvas bag with them.
Secondly, the market is likely to become even more crowded as the morning goes on, because it seems to be a very popular event. If more people arrive, the vendors will probably sell out of their most popular items, like the fresh bread and baguettes.
Finally, the two children running between the stalls might get hungry soon. If they stop running around, they may ask their parents to buy them something to eat from one of the food stalls.
Étape 3 : conclusion. Réflexion finale ou prédiction d’ensemble
Objectif : Concluez par une prédiction générale sur le dénouement. Environ cinq à dix secondes.
Astuce grammaticale : Future Perfect pour projeter un résultat accompli
Formule : Subject + will have + Past Participle (V3)
Utilisez cette structure pour prédire ce qui sera achevé à un moment donné :
Exemples :
- By the end of the morning, the vendors will have sold most of their fresh produce.
- By noon, every customer will have found something to take home.
- By the time the market closes, the musician will have entertained the entire crowd.
Le modèle
- Résultat global : Overall, I think [person] will [final outcome].
- Future Perfect (facultatif) : By [time], they will have [completed action].
- Note positive : [Optimistic closing thought].
Exemple : Overall, I think this farmers’ market will have a very successful day. By the end of the morning, the vendors will have sold most of their fresh produce and everyone will have enjoyed a wonderful weekend outing.
