- “The issue is…”
- “The problem we’re facing…”
- “We’re having trouble with…”
- “I’m concerned about…”
- “Unfortunately…”
- “The challenge is…”
- “What if we…”
- “How about…”
- “I think we should…”
- “Why don’t we…”
- “We could always…”
- “Maybe we can…”
- “One option is to…”
- “That sounds good”
- “Let’s do that”
- “I agree”
- “That works for me”
- “Okay, so we’ll…”
- “Perfect, I’ll…”
- “I’m not sure about…”
- “The problem with that is…”
- “Actually, I think…”
- “But what about…”
- “That might not work because…”
|---|---|---|
| [核心问题] | A: [方案一] / B: [方案二] | [商定的行动] |

Section 1
Section 1: Listen to the conversation
Karen: Hi there. I have a reservation under the name Karen Mitchell. I booked a midsize sedan for three days starting today.
David: Let me pull that up. One moment, please. Okay, I see your reservation here. Unfortunately, the vehicle you reserved isn’t available right now. The previous customer was supposed to return it this morning, but they called to say they’ll be about three hours late.
Karen: Oh no. I really need a car today. I booked two weeks in advance so I wouldn’t run into problems like this. Is there anything you can do?
David: I completely understand, and I’m sorry about this. We’re going to find you a solution. Let me see what we have on the lot right now.

Section 2
Section 2: Listen to the conversation
David: Alright, I have two options for you. First, we have an SUV available right now, and I can give it to you at the same price as the sedan. No extra charge.
Karen: Hmm, that’s generous, but I’ll be driving downtown most of the time. Parking an SUV in those tight downtown spots is not ideal. What’s the other option?
David: You could wait about two hours for the original sedan. The customer said they’d have it back by noon.
Karen: Two hours is a long time. I’ve got a meeting at 2 PM across town, and I still need to check into my hotel before that. I can’t wait that long. Is there anything else?
David: Let me take another look at the system here.
Questions 4-6:
-
What is the first alternative David offers Karen?
A) A free upgrade to a luxury car
B) An SUV at the same price as her original booking
C) A compact car at a discount

A) It costs too much
B) She does not like driving large vehicles
C) It is hard to park in tight downtown spaces
D) It uses too much gas -

A) She has a flight to catch
B) She needs to attend a meeting at 2 PM
C) The rental office will be closed by then
D) She has dinner reservations
Section 3
Section 3: Listen to the conversation
David: Okay, I do have one more option. We have a compact car available. It’s smaller than what you booked, so I can offer you a 15% discount on the daily rate for the inconvenience.
Karen: A compact? Well, it’s just me and one suitcase, so I don’t need a lot of space. And a discount is nice. Yeah, let’s go with that.
David: Great choice. I’ll get the paperwork started. The car is in lot B-7. It’s a silver Honda Civic. And good news, the gas tank is completely full, so you’re all set.
Karen: Perfect. Thank you so much, David. You’ve been really helpful.
David: Happy to help. Have a great trip!
Questions 7-8:
-
What do Karen and David agree on as the final solution?

D) Karen will rent from a different agency -
Where is the car located?
A) Lot A-3
B) Lot B-7
C) The main parking garage
D) Lot C-12
Section 1 解析:
-
C) A midsize sedan
- Karen 说 “I booked a midsize sedan for three days.”,这是直接陈述的信息。
-
C) Another customer has not returned it yet
- David 说前一位客户 “was supposed to return it this morning”,但打电话说 “they’ll be about three hours late”。
- 干扰项: 选项 B(“returned it late”)与正确答案很接近但不准确。
-
B) Two weeks
- Karen 说 “I booked two weeks in advance.”,这是直接的细节信息。
Section 2 解析:
-
B) An SUV at the same price as her original booking
- David 说 “we have an SUV available right now, and I can give it to you at the same price as the sedan. No extra charge.”
-
C) It is hard to park in tight downtown spaces
- Karen 说 “I’ll be driving downtown most of the time. Parking an SUV in those tight downtown spots is not ideal.”
-
B) She needs to attend a meeting at 2 PM
- Karen 说 “I’ve got a meeting at 2 PM across town, and I still need to check into my hotel before that.”
Section 3 解析:
-
C) Karen will take a compact car with a 15% discount
- David 提供了一辆紧凑型车,并给出 “a 15% discount on the daily rate”。Karen 回答 “Yeah, let’s go with that.”
-
B) Lot B-7
- David 说 “The car is in lot B-7.”,这是一个考查您是否捕捉到准确位置的细节题。
