注意听归属短语,如 “According to Dr. Singh…” 或 “City officials stated that…”。
Nguyen”。
Officials confirmed…” “Data shows…” “The study found…”
Experts believe…” “Critics argue…” “Many residents feel…”
Due to…” “As a result of…” “Triggered by…”
This means…” “The impact will be…” “Consequently…”
例如,音频中说 “had a hard time staying awake”,正确答案可能写 “almost fell asleep”。
- “The news report is mainly about _____.”
- “The city launched the program in order to _____.”
- “Residents will receive green bins _____.”
- “The number of people affected was _____.”
- “The city will most likely _____.”
- “Dr. Nguyen would probably agree that _____.”
Listen to the news broadcast
Scenario: You hear a news broadcast about a community centre reopening in a Canadian city.
“A popular community centre in downtown Edmonton is reopening this weekend after a six-month renovation. The Riverside Community Centre, which first opened in 1987, has served the local neighbourhood for nearly forty years. The renovation added a new gymnasium, a larger childcare space, and an accessible entrance for wheelchair users. City councillor Janet Park said the upgrades were long overdue. ‘This building is the heart of the neighbourhood,’ Councillor Park explained. ‘Families come here for swimming lessons, seniors use it for morning exercise classes, and local groups hold meetings in the evenings. The renovation will help us serve even more residents.’ The total cost of the project was 2.4 million dollars, funded through the city’s infrastructure budget. The centre will host a free open house on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., where residents can tour the new facilities and register for spring programs. Registration for swimming, fitness classes, and youth basketball begins on Monday.”

Correct Answers: 1-B, 2-B, 3-B, 4-B, 5-C
Detailed Explanations:
-
B) a six-month renovation — The broadcast states “reopening this weekend after a six-month renovation.” Option A (“two-year closure”) is invented. Option C (“relocated”) contradicts the report — it’s the same building.
-
B) the heart of the neighbourhood — Councillor Park says directly: “This building is the heart of the neighbourhood.” Option A uses “largest,” which was never mentioned. This tests whether you can attribute a quote to the correct speaker.
-
B) 2.4 million dollars — “The total cost of the project was 2.4 million dollars.” Number questions are common in Part 4. Options A and C are close enough to be distractors if you didn’t catch the exact number.
-
B) attend a free open house and tour the facilities — “The centre will host a free open house on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., where residents can tour the new facilities and register for spring programs.” Option A is a time-reference trap: registration for swimming starts Monday, not Saturday.
-
C) on Monday — “Registration for swimming, fitness classes, and youth basketball begins on Monday.” Option A (“this weekend”) is a distractor — the open house is this weekend, but registration starts Monday. Option B confuses the open house time with the registration date.
