About two years ago, when I was working at a marketing firm in Toronto, I faced a challenging situation…”
I was preparing for a major client presentation when my computer crashed. I lost all my slides and had only three hours before the meeting.”
- “I felt overwhelmed and anxious at first…”
- “I was frustrated but determined to find a solution…”
- “It was stressful, yet I stayed focused…”
That experience taught me the importance of backing up my work regularly. Now I always save documents to the cloud.”
Past Simple 用于已完成的动作: “I arrived at the office early. I checked my files. The document was missing.”
Past Continuous 用于背景动作: “While I was searching for solutions, my colleague was calling the IT department.”
Past Perfect 用于更早发生的事件: “I realized I had forgotten to save the final version before leaving the previous night.”
避免笼统的表述,如”it was nice”或”it was hard”。
The trip was good.”
The mountain air was crisp and cool. I could hear birds singing in the pine trees.”
Last summer I went to Vancouver for two weeks…”
Last summer, on my first day in Vancouver, I got lost trying to find Stanley Park…”
代替”happy”: relieved, thrilled, grateful, satisfied, proud, content
代替”sad”: disappointed, discouraged, upset, frustrated, worried, overwhelmed
代替”scared”: nervous, anxious, uncertain, hesitant, intimidated
At first, Initially, In the beginning
Then, Suddenly, At that moment, While this was happening
However, Fortunately, Unexpectedly
Eventually, In the end, After that, Looking back
Task 2

范文(60秒):
“About six months ago, I was baking a birthday cake for my sister’s celebration. I had been following the recipe carefully, but when I opened the oven after thirty minutes, I realized the cake hadn’t risen at all.
At first, I felt panicked because guests were arriving in just two hours. Then I remembered that I had forgotten to add baking powder, I’d mixed up the containers. I quickly decided to start over with a simpler recipe I knew well.
While the second cake was baking, I prepared extra decorations to make it special. I felt stressed but determined to fix my mistake.
In the end, the new cake turned out beautifully, and my sister loved it. That experience taught me to double-check ingredients before I start cooking, especially when I’m under time pressure. Now I always organize everything on the counter first.”
(Past Simple, Past Continuous, Past Perfect)
Task 2
Talk about a time when you accomplished something you were proud of. What was the achievement, and why was it meaningful to you?

范文(60秒):
“Last spring, I signed up for a 10-kilometre charity run in my city. I had never been a runner before, and honestly, when I registered, I wasn’t sure I could even finish.
For two months, I trained every morning before work. At first, I could barely jog for five minutes without stopping. It was discouraging, and there were days when I wanted to give up completely. But I kept pushing myself, gradually adding a few more minutes each week.
On race day, I was incredibly nervous standing at the starting line with hundreds of other runners. When the horn went off, I just focused on my breathing and kept a steady pace. I crossed the finish line in just under an hour, and I felt absolutely thrilled.
That experience taught me that consistency matters more than talent. I didn’t become a fast runner overnight, but showing up every day got me to the finish line. Now I apply that same mindset whenever I face a tough challenge.”
Task 2
Talk about a time when you helped someone and it made a real difference. What happened, and how did it make you feel?

范文(60秒):
“A couple of years ago, a new coworker from Brazil joined our team. She had just moved to Canada and was struggling with everything: finding an apartment, opening a bank account, understanding the transit system. I remembered how overwhelming my own first weeks in a new country had been.
I offered to help her during lunch breaks. Over the next two weeks, I went with her to the bank, showed her how to load a transit card, and helped her compare rental listings online. She was shy at first, but as we spent more time together, she started feeling more comfortable asking questions.
One afternoon she told me that without my help, she would have felt completely lost. I felt genuinely grateful that I could make her transition easier, and it was rewarding to see her confidence grow so quickly.
That experience reminded me how much small acts of kindness matter, especially for newcomers. Now I always try to check in with new team members during their first few weeks.”
