Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information englishstoianova.ca ("this site", "we", "us") collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what rights you have.

It applies to https://englishstoianova.ca only. The CELPIP practice platform Celpful (https://celpful.com) is operated by the same person but has its own Privacy Policy and Terms, because it handles accounts, payments and study data that this site does not.

1. Who We Are

This site is operated by Anastasiia Stoianova, a sole proprietor based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She is the person accountable for the personal information described in this policy.

Please send all privacy requests and questions to that address. We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where they apply, Quebec's Law 25, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR.

2. What We Collect

This site has no user accounts. We collect only:

• Contact form messages: your name, email address, the topic you choose and the text of your message, together with the page you wrote from, your language, your time zone, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and any campaign parameters in the link that brought you here.
• Email and messenger conversations you start with us.
• Usage data collected by Google Analytics, subject to your cookie choice (section 4): pages visited, the site that referred you, browser and device type, approximate location, and the time and duration of visits.
• Preferences stored in your browser: your cookie choice and your language.

3. Why We Use It and On What Basis

We use this information to answer your enquiry, to arrange the lessons you ask about, to understand which pages and podcast episodes are useful, and to keep the site secure. In Canada we rely on your consent, which you give when you send a message or accept cookies and may withdraw at any time (section 10). If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the legal bases are your consent (analytics cookies), the steps needed before entering into a contract (your enquiry about lessons), and our legitimate interest in running a secure website.

We do not sell personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we make no automated decisions about you.

4. Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. This site uses two kinds:

Essential storage

Always active. It remembers your cookie choice and your language. It stays in your browser and is never sent to us.

Analytics cookies

Optional. Google Analytics 4 tells us which pages and episodes are visited and where visitors come from. IP addresses are anonymised and no advertising features are enabled.

Your choices

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off until you choose "Accept all" in the cookie banner. Everywhere else, analytics cookies are on by default and you can turn them off at any time.

To change your choice, use the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works either way.

5. Embedded Videos and Podcast Players

Some pages embed YouTube videos in privacy-enhanced mode: nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play, after which YouTube's own privacy policy applies. Podcast audio is served from this site. Links to Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other platforms lead to services with their own policies.

6. Who We Share Data With

We never sell or rent your personal data. It is handled only by these providers on our behalf:

• Our web hosting provider in Canada, which serves this site.
• The Celpful server, operated by Anastasiia Stoianova, which receives contact form submissions and forwards them to her as a private Telegram notification. Messages are not stored in a database.
• Telegram, which delivers that notification.
• Google Analytics, subject to your cookie choice.

We may also disclose data when the law requires it or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

7. Where Your Data Is Processed

This site is hosted in Canada. Google and Telegram may process data in the United States and elsewhere. For visitors from the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, those transfers rely on the providers' Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

8. How Long We Keep Data

• Contact messages: until your enquiry is resolved and for up to 2 years afterwards, so we can follow up.
• Analytics data: up to 14 months in Google Analytics.
• Browser preferences: until you clear them.

9. Security

This site is served over HTTPS/TLS, the contact form is protected against automated abuse, and only Anastasiia Stoianova has access to the messages. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you and the relevant authorities of a breach where the law requires it.

10. Your Rights

Wherever you live, you can:

• Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Ask us to delete the messages you sent us.
• Withdraw consent at any time: for analytics cookies through "Cookie settings" in the footer.
• Object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing.
• Receive your data in a machine-readable format (portability).

If you are in the EEA or the United Kingdom, these are your rights under Articles 15 to 22 of the GDPR. In Canada they follow PIPEDA and, in Quebec, Law 25. To exercise a right, email info@englishstoianova.ca. We respond within 30 days and may ask you to verify your identity.

11. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Links to Other Sites

This site links to Celpful and to external websites and services we do not control, including podcast platforms and social networks. Their privacy practices are their own; please read their policies.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last Updated" date.

14. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please write to info@englishstoianova.ca first so we can put it right. You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (https://www.priv.gc.ca), to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, or, if you are in the EEA or the United Kingdom, to your national data protection authority or the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
